Award-winning eco-island resort in Zanzibar's first marine park
Accommodation
Seven solar-powered eco-bungalows are situated between the beach and forest. Each bungalow has a king-size bed on a sleeping platform under a palm-thatched roof, a living room with handmade furniture, and a self-contained bathroom with a composting toilet and rain shower. The bungalows blend with surrounding nature, with open sides that let in sea breezes and the sounds of the ocean.
Eco-Conservation
Chumbe Island is a fully protected private island and the first gazetted marine park in Tanzania, funded entirely through ecotourism revenue. The hotel holds Global Ocean Refuge accreditation and received the UNDP Global 500 Outstanding Environmental Achievement Award. Strict zero-plastic management and eco-friendly architecture include solar panels, rainwater collection, and composting toilets.
Dining
Culinary dishes are inspired by Swahili cuisine and prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Guests dine at the Visitor Centre restaurant, with meals served full board (excluding alcoholic beverages). The hotel's cuisine is available in a cookbook.

Activities include guided snorkeling on the coral reef with 525 fish species, nature trails, and historical tours of the old lighthouse.
